Soon we will be gathering with family and friends for one of my favorite holidays. It is all about getting together, cooking, and sharing a meal, and being grateful for all of the special people in our lives. Some go all out to create a spectacular table and meal, but I think even just a few unique touches can contribute to making the day special, creating memories, and perhaps starting some new traditions! The following are just a few ideas I came across in my travels that I thought I would share with you…
Table Settings
You can do something creative to make your place setting special and appropriate for the day…the following are a few ideas that caught my eye. This is a good time to bring out those family pieces, serving dishes, or grandmas china to dress up your table. Mix it up with old and new and add some fresh pine bows to give your table an inviting and festive feel.
The Thanksgiving Meal
The best meal of the year! Everyone loves the traditional dishes, green beans, stuffing, pumpkin pie and of course the star of the show the turkey! You can put your own spin on them by finding new interpretations of old favorites incorporating more fresh ingredients and some unexpected twists! It is fun to sneak in a new dish each year as a “trial” to see how your family and friends will react. This year I am going to try a savory mushroom soup as a starter.
The Cocktail
Nothing says the holidays like a fresh seasonal cocktail to get the festivities started! Find a delicious mix that incorporates cranberries and your favorite spirits to offer your guests as they arrive!
