Color Theory: Neutrals

A neutral color story does not mean your environment will be boring. A neutral color story does not mean everything is beige. A neutral-colored interior can be rich, warm and truly inviting. It has a calming effect and serene feel for everyday living and gathering with family and friends. The secret is to layer materials in different textures and tones. Wood surfaces, both painted and stained, with natural stone that you may use on a countertop or table, upholstery in a rich textured material, may include linen or leather, lighting, art and other décor make a neutral room stand out. Texture becomes the color, combined with rich tones, balance with warm whites to create “easy on the eyes” contrast that is forever classic.
